Week 3: Lights on Cotton Rock continued and Writing instructions to make a dream catcher (week 2) (this resource) ** Tes paid licence How can I reuse this?

To celebrate the fact that the Premier League might still award the trophy to Liverpool this season I thought we'd have a maths spelling game. Inspired by blockbusting science fiction from another age, this is an at-times bittersweet story that ultimately reminds us what's important in life. They could also think about other types of heroes such as NHS heroes or Police Officers whomever inspires them. Remarkable Routines- Can your child create their very own simple routine, just like a gymnast, dancer or synchronised swimmer? The latest picturebook from David Litchfield tells the story of Heather, a lonely little girl who befriends an alien at the feet of Cotton Rock.

Heather changes over the years, subtly putting on weight around her middle, her hair graying slightly. In the following video, the author / illustrator answers questions from children in a primary school.Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.

A happy and comforting read, one downside, this begins with the young girl sneaking off at night and communicating with strangers, this should be such a no-no in children’s books, but I see it again and again. Yet her vigil is shown to us in sequences as one long night, followed by other long nights, as she flashes her torchlight into the sky longing for an other worldly response. The best thing about this book are the wordless images that allow for discussion and expression and make up a good part of the story (although it also works without delving too deep). We will be looking at this book in more detail on our Y2 Reading Revision Course and exploring how it can be used to ensure pupils are meeting the end of key stage expectations and developing their wider reading skills.
